Three days later the slave girl awoke in Resistance Headquarters with her memory regained. She was indeed the long lost Princess Alice. She explained what happened that fateful night the rift gate was opened, “I remember Creon went away on business to discuss a treaty with the kingdom of the east. And my father was so bent on opening the rift gate. He thought we could learn so much with it, and use it to benefit the people. He was wrong. As the gate was opened this gigantic monster came out and began killing everything in sight. I believe that monster was in that gate for a reason. I think the people of our past trapped it their to keep it from harming us, then hid it away for the world to never find. But we found it. And the monster picked me up, and he would have swallowed me whole if my grandmother hadn’t stabbed him with an eating knife. It roared in pain and tossed me across the room. I hit my head and the next thing I know Creon is telling me I’m a nobody slave that has no parents and always worked for him as his slave.”
          The Resistance, along with the peasants of the kingdom, worked to restore the palace and renewed its old beauty. The Resistance swore their loyalty to Princess Alice, and she was placed back on the throne. Her first act as ruler of her kingdom was to knight each and every Resistance member. They became her personal guard and served the kingdom for the rest of their days. Ember had Rex arrange for her to live with Susan in a friendly cottage, two hours away from the old Resistance Headquarters.
